Fern Lake Trail
This is a butt kicker of an uphill, and it gets very steep at times. You will be rewarded with amazing views of the valley in both directions. Fern Lake is a great place for hanging out in your backpack hammock and fishing. Keep in mind when you head back, it is a lot of downhill.
Alternatively to heading back to the Fern Lake trail head you can cross the log bridge and head to Yost Lake and Yost Meadows. Go even further from there and cross the June Mountain Ski Area and end up at the edge of town where you can walk to many fine food and beverage establishments for a victory drink. This extra adventure all the way to town will cost you over 4 miles, so make sure your entire group is up for the task. Or stick to the plan to make it up to Fern Lake and back!
